Honoring the Indigenous Heritage of Ragged Point

At Ragged Point, the rugged beauty of the Central Coast is intertwined with the rich history of the indigenous tribes who have called this land home for thousands of years.

The land along Highway 1 holds significant cultural importance for multiple indigenous Tribes in this region. From ancient village sites to sacred gathering places, each location tells a story of resilience, adaptation, and stewardship. This Tribal legacy is woven into the fabric of the landscape, offering a glimpse into the vibrant history of the people who lived here before us.

We are committed to honoring and preserving our indigenous heritage. Through respectful acknowledgment, education, and collaboration with local Tribal communities, we strive to foster appreciation and awareness of the rich cultural tapestry that defines our surroundings.

Telling the Story of Ragged Point’s Rich Past

Rather than telling you about this heritage ourselves, we have asked the people whose ancestors walked these shores before us to tell us the Ragged Point history in their words. In the weeks and months ahead, we will be adding their stories to this site.
