Pastel Retreat - Jim Tyler

Immerse yourself in pastels for four days and three nights while experiencing the world famous Big Sur coastline at Ragged Point Inn. Located only one hour north of San Luis Obispo, this historic resort is perched on the rugged cliffs between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Lucia Mountains. Under the tutelage of pastelist Jim Tyler, you’ll paint these iconic views without ever leaving the resort.

This is a hands-on pastel workshop that includes five half-day sessions of both studio and plein air painting. This is an instructor-led workshop with demonstrations each step of the way. All experience levels welcome. Photo references provided. Class size is limited to 10 artists.

- Tuesday afternoon: Studio painting session 1:30 – 4:30; check in afterwards
- Wednesday morning: Finish studio painting 9:00 – noon
- Wednesday afternoon: Plein air painting session 1:30 – 4:30
- Thursday morning: Plein air painting session 9:00 – noon
- Thursday afternoon: TBD
- Friday morning: check out; optional no-instruction plein air session

We’ll primarily stay at the Cliff House, which has a common living area, kitchen, and lawn, and five guest rooms (each with private bath rooms).
Dogs are welcome for an additional, non-refundable fee of $50/stay one dog per room and $25/stay for a second dog. The number of dog-friendly rooms is limited.
This special discount is available during the workshop, and is offered only to workshop participants. The discount code will be given to you after you have reserved a spot in the workshop.
